Coordinates: 32 ° 21 ′  S , 138 ° 2 ′  E The Flinders Ranges Council is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 4,198 km² and has about 1600 inhabitants (2016).

The Flinders Ranges are located in the Northern Region on the edge of the Outback about 290 kilometers north of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 21 districts and localities: Adams, Arkaba, Barndioota, Boolcunda, Boollunda, Cradock, Cudla Mudla, Hawker, Kanyaka, Moockra, Palmer, Pichi Richi, Quorn , Warcowie, Willochra, Wirreanda, Wonoka, Woolundunga, Wyacca, Yarrah and Yednalue. The administrative headquarters of the council is in Quorn, where about 1100 inhabitants live (2016).

The Flinders Ranges council has nine members, the eight councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Flinders Ranges is not divided into districts.
