Elmina Moissán

Elmina Mois (s) án (* 1897 in Quillota ; † 1938 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter .

Moissán studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Santiago with Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor and was one of the painters of the Generacion del Trece . She later took lessons from Ricardo Richon Brunet . She worked as a professor of fine arts at the Liceo de Niñas N ° 4 .

In 1926 she married the painter Otto Georgi . In 1938 she traveled to Lima to work and study there. During this trip, she contracted malaria, which she succumbed to in the same year.

Moissán has received several awards for her work, including a. In 1929 with a gold medal at the Exposición Ibero-Americana in Seville. In 1936 a solo exhibition of her works took place in the Sala Banco de Chile in Santiago. The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes owns the paintings Cabeza de Vieja , La Coqueta and Interior , the portrait Retrato de una concertista is owned by the Pinacoteca of the Universidad de Concepción .
