Elmo Ellor ( real name Elmar or Elmo Ploom , born June 20, 1907 in Sänna, Rõuge district , † August 1, 1986 in Võru ) was an Estonian playwright and journalist .

Life

Elmo Ellor attended high schools in Võru, Petseri and Valga and was active as a freelance reporter and playwright from 1928 . From 1938 he worked as a dramaturge in the "Kandle" theater in Võru, where from 1939 he also worked in a newspaper editorial office. After the Sovietization of Estonia in 1940, he was a victim of June deportation in 1941 and spent the next 18 years of his life in Siberia .

In 1959 he was able to return to Estonia. Since 1961 he had modest jobs in the construction sector, from 1967 to 1989 he was employed at the local museum in Võru as a research assistant.

Ellor made his debut with a romance novel (1932) and afterwards wrote a number of "undemanding folk plays", which, however, were very popular on amateur stages and were even staged in Finland. They mostly represented a harmonious life in the country. The pieces stood out due to their comical character drawings, humor and, in places, dialect language.
