Elo Viiding (born March 20, 1974 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian poet .

Life

Elo Viiding was born as the daughter of the poet and actor Juhan Viiding and the music teacher Riina Viiding. Elo Viiding's paternal grandfather was the writer Paul Viiding , and the maternal actor and politician Kaljo Kiisk .

After attending the special music school from 1981 to 1989, Elo Viiding studied violin at the renowned Georg Ots music school in Tallinn until 1992 . This was followed by an acting course (1994 to 1999) at the Estonian Humanitarian Institute .

In addition to her writing activities, Elo Viiding works as a translator for English and Finnish and as an advertising copywriter. She also teaches at the universities in Turku and Tallinn.

Writer

Viiding wrote her first volume of poetry Telg ("The Axis") in 1990 when she was 16 years old under the pseudonym Elo Vee . She quickly developed her own avant-garde style, which is often declamatory. She divided one of her volumes into "good", "mediocre" and "bad poems", but left the first section empty. Further anthologies of poetry and prose followed. In 1992 Elo Viiding joined the Estonian Writers' Union .

Private life

Elo Viiding is married to the Estonian literary scholar and critic Jaanus Adamson (* 1966).
