Elsa Faber from Bockelmann
Elsa Faber (born February 4, 1890 in Danzig as Elsa von Bockelmann , † November 4, 1980 in Göttingen ), stage name Elsa Faber von Bockelmann , was a German writer and fairytale poet.
Life
Elsa von Bockelmann first became a nurse during World War I and came up with the idea of telling the wounded her own fairy tales , which she later published in books and on records.
Already after the First World War she moved through East Prussia and earned her living as a storyteller and became known in West and East Prussia as the Danzig fairy tale woman.
Elsa Faber was married to Walther Faber (director of the Danziger Real-Gymnasium St. Johann and brother of Kurt Faber ) and had three daughters (Liselotte, Brigitte and Ruth).
At the end of the Second World War , she and her family fled to Helmstedt in Lower Saxony . She was awarded the Danzig Culture Prize.
