Elsbeth Rinke
Elsbeth Rinke (born October 21, 1879 in Sprottau ; † 1960 ) was a German entrepreneur. In their company Heimsoeth & Rinke was before and during the Second World War, the cipher machine Enigma produced.
Life
Little is known about their life. After the accidental death of the inventor of the Enigma, Arthur Scherbius (1878–1929), she took over in 1934 together with Rudolf Heimsoeth (1880–1968) the encryption machines AG in Berlin , where the Enigma was manufactured. The name and the legal form were changed to "Chiffriermaschinen Gesellschaft Heimsoeth und Rinke oHG" (short: H&R) and the development and production of the machine was resumed. With the end of the Battle of Berlin shortly before the German surrender , their company ceased operations.
