Elstermühle Arnsnesta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Elstermühle Arnsnesta was first mentioned in a document in 1421. The three brothers Rudolf, Jurge and Heinrich Hopfgarten were enfeoffed with the mill and hammer in Arnsnesta by the Saxon Elector. However, a flour mill was named in Arnsnesta as early as 1381.

history

The mill was administered by the Lochau Office , which in 1561 bought a boring mill for the construction of wooden pipes for water pipes. The timber rafting on the Schwarzen Elster , promoted by August the Strong, brought the then owner, the mayor of Herzberg , Christian Huth, compensation for stopping the mill while the timber was being rafted. (“... the mill owner Mr. Christian Huth should not only get free firewood, bridge, dam and shredded wood, but also annually 2 shovel trees and an oak tree and on the days when rafting is done, a thaler for each Day paid ”). A new mill regulation introduced in 1772 stipulated for the mill: two grinding steps with an intermediate gear on an undershot waterwheel which was designed as a drawing mill , one milling step and millet pounding with an auxiliary transmission on a drawing mill waterwheel and a cutting mill on a water wheel which was designed as a stick mill .

Owner of the mill

The mill owner named after Christian Huth, in 1739, was master miller Gerhard Meißner, then Johann Christian Simon, and in 1804 master miller Karl Friedrich Röhrborn. The last miller mentioned was the son of Karl Friedrich Röhrborn, Karl Ludwig Röhrborn.

Others

In the mill regulation of 1561 it was stipulated that the miller had to demolish the channel of the mill at a specified time and that it had to be rebuilt according to precise specifications. It was also determined when water was allowed to flow through the moat near the mill. All maintenance work on the dikes and the cleanliness of the waters belonging to the mill had to be ensured by the miller. In 1852, due to the imminent regulation of the Black Elster, the water rights for the mill were replaced. This meant the end of the water mill in Arnsnesta.
