Eltz (Lower Saxon noble family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Von Eltz is the name of an old family based in Lower Saxony . The aristocratic family has been known since the Middle Ages, especially in the area of today's Hanover region . The family is said to have its origin in Großburgwedel . The monument conservator Carl Wolff described the former aristocratic, free court in Burgwedel as "belonging to the Lords of Eltz in Hildesheim ".

In contrast to today's Elze in the Hildesheim district, it is unclear, among other things, whether the name of the noble family had an effect on the older spelling of Eltze , now known as Uetze . The same applies to the disappeared town of Elzenhusen , which was located about 1900 meters northwest of the Nordgoltern manor near the Eseler Hof farm.

The confirmation of the knightly nobility and nobility by the emperor took place on February 17, 1693 for the governor Ludolph Heinrich [sic!] Von Eltz ( Elltz ).
