Elvira Betrone
Elvira Betrone (actually Elvira Sanipoli ; born February 6, 1881 in Rome , † August 11, 1961 in Milan ) was an Italian actress .
Life
Betrone spent her career as a character actress mostly in the shadow of her better-known husband Annibale , but also showed seriousness and skill in the small roles. She had started on stage under her maiden name in the Ermete Novelli ensemble and made guest appearances with Ruggero Ruggeris and Virgilio Tallis groups, where she met her future husband. She was also busy on the radio. It was not used in film until 1940 when she took on a supporting role in Il sogno di tutti ; by 1950 she could be seen in around twenty works.
After the death of her husband in 1950, she only accepted occasional theater guest performances , which were of great interest, for example under Luchino Visconti in Come le foglie in 1954, in Uncle Vanya the following year and again in 1960 in L'Arialda . Even Giorgio Strehler she could in 1958 for The Good Person of Szechwan win.
Their son Cino, who was born in 1912, died on the Albanian front in 1941.
