Elvira Orphée

Elvira Orphée (born May 29, 1930 in San Miguel de Tucumán , † April 26, 2018 ) was an Argentine writer .

Career

Orphée came as teenagers to Buenos Aires and studied at the University of Literature.

She married the painter Miguel Ocampo , with whom she had three daughters. In 1956 her husband was appointed to the diplomatic service by Eduardo Lonardi and sent to Rome . She accompanied him and soon made the acquaintance of Italo Calvino , Elsa Morante and Alberto Moravia . In 1959 she returned to Argentina with her husband. In 1961 she accompanied her husband to Paris for five years .

As early as 1956, Orphée made a very successful debut with her first novel “Dos incos”.
