Elzéar Hamel

Elzéar Hamel (born May 4, 1871 in Montreal , † December 26, 1944 there ) was a Canadian actor.

Hamel performed with amateur actors at the age of seven. In 1898 he made his debut at the Théâtre des variétés , in 1900 he moved to the newly opened Théâtre national , to which he belonged for thirteen seasons. Here he had success in Adolphe d'Ennery's adaptation of Jules Vernes Michel Strogoff , La Mulâtresse by Dion Boucicault and Madame Sans-Gêne by Victorien Sardou . At the Théâtre canadien he appeared in Bernard Henri's Chanteur des rues in 1914 . He also toured Ontario, Quebec, and New England in the 1920s before retiring from the stage in 1931 and only working for the radio.

Since 1916, humorous skits in the role of Ladébauche , a character created by the cartoonist Aldéric Bourgeois, have been created for Columbia Records and His Master's Voice , including Ladébauche au téléphone , Ladébauche, dompteur de lions and Ladébauche, le rebouteux .
