Rainer Voss (* 1959 in Wuppertal ) is a former German investment banker .

After finishing school at a humanistic grammar school , he did an apprenticeship in banking, which was followed by a degree in economics at the University of Cologne . From 1986 to 2008 he worked for several European investment banks, including a. Dresdner Bank, later worked in management positions at Deutsche Bank. His main focus was on institutional placement and trading in fixed income securities . Since that time, he has lived with his family as a private citizen in Frankfurt am Main .

In the award-winning documentary Master of the Universe from 2013, he single-handedly explains his inside view of the financial markets over the entire length of the film. According to the director Marc Bauder, he was the only banker asked who agreed to do so.

In 2017, as part of the TV documentary series Terra X , Voss and Harald Lesch devoted themselves to monetary topics such as monetary stability and Bitcoin .
