Emanuel Walberg (born December 24, 1873 in Lund ; † November 27, 1951 there ) was a Swedish Romance philologist .

life and work

Walberg had the Romanist Johan Vising as a teacher at school. He studied in Lund with Edvard Lidforss and Fredrik Wulff, in Paris with Gaston Paris and Paul Meyer and in Bonn with Wendelin Foerster . He received his doctorate with the thesis (ed.) Bestiaire de Philippe de Thaün (Paris / Lund 1900) and taught at the University of Lund from 1900 , from 1910 to 1934 as professor and successor to Fredrik Wulff. In 1931, he succeeded Kristoffer Nyrop as a member of the Académie royale de langue et de littérature françaises de Belgique. He was an honorary doctor of the University of Tartu (Dorpat).
