Emanuele Gianturco

Emanuele Gianturco (born March 20, 1857 in Avigliano , Province of Potenza , † November 10, 1907 in Naples ) was a lawyer and politician in the Kingdom of Italy , a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) and several times a minister.

Life

Emanuele Gianturco began studying law at the University of Naples Federico II and, after graduating, worked as a lawyer and university lecturer. In addition, also studied at the Music Conservatory Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella . On June 10, 1886 he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) for the first time and belonged to it from the 16th to his death on November 10th 1907 in the 22nd legislative period. In 1892 he also became professor of civil law at the University of Naples Federico II, where Vincenzo Simoncelli was one of his students.

In the Giolitti I cabinet , Gianturco acted between May 15 and October 22, 1893 as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Mercy, Justice and Religion (Sottosegretario di Ministero di Grazia e Giustizia e dei Culti) . In the Rudinì II cabinet, he held the post of Minister for Public Education (Ministro dell'Istruzione Pubblica) from March 10 to July 11, 1896 and held this ministerial office between July 11, 1896 and September 17, 1897 also in the following Cabinet Rudinì III . In the course of a government reshuffle, he took over the office of Minister for Mercy, Justice and Religion (Ministro di Grazia e Giustizia e dei Culti) in the Rudinì III cabinet on September 18, 1897, and held this position until December 14, 1897. In the 20th legislative period he was between June 3, 1899 and May 17, 1900 as Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies.

Shortly thereafter, Emanuele Gianturco was again Minister for Mercy, Justice and Religion in the Saracco cabinet on June 24, 1900 and held this post until February 15, 1901. Most recently, he was Minister for Public between May 29, 1906 and November 6, 1907 Work (Ministro dei Lavori Pubblici) in the Giolitti III cabinet .
