Emerich Dembrovszki (born October 6, 1945 in Câmpulung la Tisa , Maramureş County ) is a former Romanian football player and football coach . He played 386 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A, and took part in the 1970 World Cup. In the Romanian sports press he was at times given the surname Dembrovschi .
Player career
Dembrovszki began his career in 1966 at Dinamo Bacau (from 1970 SC Bacau), who played in the second-rate Divizia B at the time. In the first year he was promoted to Divizia A , where he made his debut on August 20, 1967. Dembrovszki remained loyal to Bacau for eight years until the club was relegated at the end of the 1973/74 season. With his goals, he contributed to the greatest successes of the club when the quarter-finals of the trade fair cup in 1970 and fourth place in the 1972/73 season .
After relegation Dembrovszki moved to league rivals Politehnica Timișoara . Here, too, he became a regular player and shot the club to third place in the 1977/78 season , which meant qualifying for the UEFA Cup. He achieved the greatest success of his career in 1980 when Poli won the Romanian Cup. In 1981 Dembrovszki ended his career.
National team
Dembrovszki played 27 games for the Romanian national soccer team , scoring nine goals. He played his first international game on October 27, 1968 against Portugal as part of qualifying for the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. After successfully qualifying, national coach Angelo Niculescu called him into his squad and used him over the full distance in all three games. He scored a goal in the 2: 3 against eventual world champions Brazil .
Coaching career
After the end of his active career, Dembrovszki struck that of the coach. In April 1983 he took over the club in last place, but could no longer prevent relegation. After the immediate resurgence, he was dismissed during the winter break of the 1984/85 season due to unsuccessfulness.
Also in March 1994 Dembrovszki had to help out and took over the team again at the bottom of the table. Despite a race to catch up, he could no longer avoid relegation. Again the direct ascent succeeded. After a good seventh place in the 1995/96 season , he was dismissed again in March 1997 for failure.
