Emil Wiechert Medal

The Emil Wiechert Medal is the highest honor awarded by the German Geophysical Society since 1955 . V. (DGG). The medal is not linked to any prize money.

The Emil Wiechert Medal is awarded together with a certificate at irregular intervals every 3 to 5 years. It is named after the German physicist and seismologist Emil Wiechert (1861–1928), on whose initiative the DGG was founded in 1922 and who was also its first chairman. With the award, the company honors outstanding work in the scientific discipline of geophysics .
