Emil Bauer ( December 9, 1848 in Berlin - March 9, 1931 in Dresden ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Bauer was chosen for an engineering career by his father. Through the acquaintance of a young actor, however, he was given the opportunity to visit the theater more often and this encouraged him to finally devote himself to the stage career. He acquired the necessary stage knowledge at the Thalia amateur theater, as he did later at the Uraniatheater, and took declamation lessons from Adele Peroni-Glasbrenner while Hermann Hendrichs completed his training. He stepped on the boards for the first time at the Viktoriatheater as "Baumgarten" in "Wilhelm Tell". His first engagement was in Liegnitz, then he was engaged in Stettin, Danzig, Posen, Detmold and Chemnitz, later in Hamburg, Cologne, Dessau, Wiesbaden and St. Petersburg and finally at the Residenztheater in Dresden, where in 1875 he received an application to the court theater . He made his debut there on May 4, 1876 and was a member there until the end of his career.

Bauer was married to the Petersburg court actress Margarete Körnig .
