The Emil Frei GmbH & Co. KG (FreiLacke) is a paint manufacturer headquartered in Germany and develops and produces all common coating systems under one roof (system coatings, powder coatings, industrial coatings / liquid coatings, electrodeposition coatings and composites).
history
In 1926, the sole proprietorship Emil Frei was founded as a wholesaler for varnishes, paints and painting accessories by Emil Frei senior in Döggingen . In 1957 a factory with a tank farm was built for FreiLacke (Emil Frei GmbH & Co. KG) . The development and production of powder coatings began in 1968 and was expanded to include electro-dip coatings in 1969. In 1977 FreiLacke had a turnover of 29 million DM with 240 employees . In 1992 a branch was established in Sweden (Frei Lacke AB in Påarp), in 2006 one in Great Britain (FreiLacke UK Ltd. in Birmingham ) and in 2007 one in Russia (OOO FreiLacke in Moscow ). In 2009 the logistics center was expanded with a high-bay warehouse and since 2015 FreiLacke has also had a subsidiary in China (FreiLacke Co. Ltd. in Nantong ). The groundbreaking ceremony for the new powder coating production with high-bay warehouse, which opened in September 2019, took place in 2017. In the same year the two branches in the USA (FreiLacke USA Inc. in New York ) and in Mexico (FreiLacke Mexico S. de RL de CV in Monterrey ) followed. In 2019 FreiLacke was recognized as one of the top 100 employers in Germany in the "Great Place to Work" competition. Another subsidiary was founded in Turkey in August 2019 (FreiLacke Kimya AS in Izmir ).
