Emil Langen (born June 24, 1824 in Solingen , † October 1, 1870 in Salzgitter-Bad ) was a German entrepreneur .

The son of the Rhenish sugar manufacturer Johann Jakob Langen and brother of Eugen Langen took over the management of the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte in 1846 , an ironworks in the area of ​​the city of Troisdorf . He worked there as director until 1867. Not only did he reorganize the iron and steel works that had existed since 1825, but also ensured a good working environment with his social commitment. For example, he set up a school for the children of the workers.

As a member of the Comité for the direct Cöln-Siegburg-Frankfurter railway line , Langen was involved in ensuring the railway connection from Troisdorf . This also benefited his ironworks. In 1867 Langen left Troisdorf and founded the Salzgitter ironworks in what is now Salzgitter-Bad . He was killed in an accident at work.

Langen married Julchen born in 1848. Lauterjung and had seven children with her. During their time in Troisdorf, the family lived in Villa Langen .

The former Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte later became the Mannstaedt-Werke , which today belongs to Georgsmarienhütte GmbH and produces all kinds of steel products at the same location.

A secondary school in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt was named after Emil Langen .
