Emil Lerp

Emil Lerp (* 1886 in Goldbach ; † 1966 in Hamburg ) was a German entrepreneur and inventor .

Life

In 1927 Emil Lerp presented the first petrol chainsaw . He started the first presentation on Mount Dolmar in the Thuringian Forest with the model A chainsaw, which, as a two-man machine, weighed 58 kg. On June 15, 1928, Lerp received the patent for a “tree saw arranged on a stretcher-like frame” , the world's first petrol chainsaw . In 1928 Lerp renamed the company he founded in Hamburg after the mountain in Dolmar . Before starting his own business, Emil Lerp worked together with Andreas Stihl , who later founded Stihl , as a salesman for the Emil Ring Company (Rinco saws).
