Emil Neide
Emil Neide (born December 28, 1843 in Königsberg , † April 25, 1908 in Dresden ) was a German painter .
Neide formed at the art academy in Königsberg , then in Düsseldorf and Munich , where he particularly followed Diez , then made study trips to Belgium, Holland and Northern Italy and finally returned to Königsberg .
Even before his trip he had for the auditorium of the local university a fresco: Ptolemy the course of the stars watching , customized, which followed after his return a number of mythological representations in which psyche , of Charon across the Styx performed (1873, Museum Konigsberg ), Orpheus and Eurydice (1876) and scenes from the “ Odyssey ” for the Insterburg high school are to be emphasized. Two genre pictures exhibited in 1886 mark a complete change in his previous direction in the choice of fabrics and in the coloristic treatment: Am Orte der Tat (the discovery of the corpse of a murdered man) and Die Lebensmüden , which only made the artist known to wider circles. He was a professor at the Konigsberg Art Academy. One of his students was Käthe Kollwitz .
