Emil Neumann (composer)
Emil Rudolph (Rudolf) Hugo Neumann (born October 24, 1834 in Berlin , † March 10, 1901 in Pankow ) was a German musician, conductor and composer.
After his musical training he became a hoboist in the Prussian Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 1 in Berlin. After winning first prize in the marching competition of the publishing house Bote & Bock in 1859 for his composition of the Victoria March , he was promoted to bar hoboist. His composition was, among other things, the parade march of the Royal Bavarian 11th Infantry Regiment in Regensburg . His march is part of the collection " German Army Marches " by Wilhelm Stephan, whose titles are regularly played by the orchestras of the Bundeswehr .
