Emil Prill

Emil Prill (born May 10, 1867 in Stettin , † February 28, 1940 in Berlin ) was a German flautist .

Life

Born the son of a conductor, Emil Prill gave concerts at the age of nine with his two brothers, the cellist Paul Prill and the violinist Karl Prill . From 1882 to 1884 he studied at the Royal University of Music Berlin , a. a. with Heinrich Gantenberg . After stations in St. Petersburg and Moscow , Prill became a teacher at the Imperial Music School in Charkow in 1888 . From 1889 to 1892 he was first flautist in the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra , before moving to the same position at the Royal Chapel in Berlin . From 1903 he also taught at the local music academy.

In 1906 he was awarded the title of Chamber Virtuoso , in 1912 he was given the title of Professor. Prill published a school for boehm flute , etudes, transcriptions and a guide through the flute literature .

He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
