Emil Regnard (born September 8, 1897 ; † 1962 ) was an Austrian soccer player who won a championship title with SK Rapid Vienna in the 1920s and was part of the national team .

Club career

Regnard's career began at Margaretner Viktoria , from where he joined the second division club SC Red Star Vienna in 1920 . In 1922, the right-back moved to Rapid, where he was set up alongside Vinzenz Dittrich and Alexander Popovich and achieved the league title in his first season. In the next two years Regnard - apart from a suspension of several months in the spring of 1924 - continued to play regularly on the defensive of the Hütteldorfer, before he was ousted from the main formation by Franz Solil in 1925 .

In 1926 he therefore left the Green-Whites and signed with the current champions Wiener Amateur-SV , who shortly thereafter changed his name to FK Austria . With the Ober-Sankt Veitern he had a regular place again, initially forming the defender couple with Johann Tandler and Karl Schneider , and later with Karl Graf . In the championship Austria did not get beyond midfield positions in these years, in the ÖFB Cup Regnard was in the finals in 1927 and 1930, but could not win the title both times.

From autumn 1931 he played half a season at SC Nicholson before ending his career with the second-rate SC White Elf .

National team

In April 1923 Regnard made his debut in a 0-0 win against Italy on the side of Josef Blum in the national team. In the next five years he should play five more games in the selection, but without securing a permanent starting place. The last time he wore the national dress was in March 1927 when he lost 2-1 to Czechoslovakia .
