Emile Godding
Emile Hendrik Karel Godding (born August 18, 1841 in Bruges , † October 22, 1898 in Antwerp ) was a Belgian genre painter.
He studied at the Académie voor Schone Kunsten Brugge and with the Bruges painter Bruno Van Hollebeke (1817-1892). From 1874 he continued his studies at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten . He then worked as a genre painter in Antwerp.
He painted portraits and genre scenes (especially domestic scenes) and was also a good draftsman. During the world exhibition in Antwerp in 1894 he exhibited together with Jan Portielje , Gerard Portielje , Edward Portielje and Henri Timmermans in the section "Old Antwerp". He exhibited his works in Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp in 1885, and in Munich and Philadelphia in 1883 and 1890.
