Emile Rodé
Emile Rodé (born August 19, 1854 in La Neuveville , † July 21, 1898 in Clarens near Montreux ) was a Swiss lawyer and diplomat .
Life
Emile Rodé studied at the universities of Bern , Heidelberg and Paris law . During his studies in Bern, he joined the Corps Rhenania Bern , which received him in 1873. Immediately after graduating, he was initially a lawyer in Delsberg and Pruntrut .
In 1883 he joined the Political Department as secretary . From 1891 to 1898 he was Prime Minister of Switzerland in Buenos Aires . In addition to Argentina , his accreditation also extended to Paraguay and Uruguay . Until 1891 Switzerland only had one consulate in Argentina . With Rodé's arrival, the consulate was converted into an embassy .
Rodé introduced the August 1st celebration in the Swiss colony in Argentina in 1892 . In 1883, after the uprising, he brokered Swiss immigrants from the province of Santa Fe between Argentina and Switzerland. In Paraguay and Uruguay, he was committed to the development of the Swiss colonies, particularly that of Nueva Helvecia .
