Emili Salut i Payà

Emili Salut i Payà (born  November 13, 1918 in Barcelona , Spain , †  May 16, 1982 in Barcelona) was a Catalan composer and trumpeter .

biography

Emili Salut studied violin and piano at the Municipal Music School in Barcelona, ​​but his real passion was composition. He then became interested in the trumpet , which he learned from Lluís Rovira. He belonged to several instrumental ensembles until the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War . In 1939 he went to the Soviet Union to take a course as a pilot. In 1940 and 1941 he performed with Mikhail Lipski's orchestra in the Metropol restaurant and cinema in Moscow and in the Marble Palace in Leningrad. Between 1941 and 1948 he was in several prisons and labor camps , for example in Kok-Usek. Between 1951 and 1956 he was the conductor of the Great Moscow Circus Orchestra, with which he was on tour in the USSR. In 1957 he was able to return to Spain and initially worked at Radio Nacional de España in Madrid. In 1958 he took part as a conductor in the film La violetera with Sara Montiel . In 1959 he moved to Barcelona, ​​where he first presented the artistic information program Metrònom as a music critic for Radio Juventud de Barcelona , and then worked as a Russian teacher. From 1962 he conducted several concerts in Barcelona. In 1977 and 1978 he lived in Finland and Norway.
