Emilie Flottmann

Emilie Flottmann (born May 10, 1852 in Dortmund , † November 18, 1933 in Herne ) was a German entrepreneur and manager of the Flottmann works .

Life

She was the daughter of Dortmund's city secretary Gottlieb Jacob Henrich Teichgräber (1816–1876) and Johanna Dorothea Henriette Friederike Kracht (1818–1869). On June 2, 1874, she married the entrepreneur Friedrich Heinrich Flottmann in the Petri Church in Dortmund. The children of the couple, who lived in Barop for the first few years of their marriage and then in Bochum, included the eldest son Otto Heinrich Flottmann (1875–1944) and their daughter Emilie (1877–1963).

After the death of her husband, Emilie Flottmann took over the Bochum company as sole heir; her son only joined the management later. In 1917 the Flottmann-Werke were converted into a stock corporation, Emilie Flottmann became deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board and thus had an influence on the development of the company until her death. She is buried in the south cemetery in Herne.
