Emilie Nicolas Kongshavn (born November 26, 1987 ) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter who performs under the name Emilie Nicolas .

Life

Kongshavn comes from the municipality of Bærum . She graduated from the Technical and Natural Sciences University of Norway with a degree in jazz . In 2013 she released a cover version of the song Pstereo , originally released in 1990 by the Norwegian band DumDum Boys . Kongshavn's new version became a radio hit in Norway.

First albums (2014-2019)

In autumn 2014 she released her debut album Like I'm A Warrior , which reached number one on the Norwegian album charts . Apart from her first single Pstereo , she wrote all the songs on it herself. It was positively rated by critics and she was able to receive two prizes at the Norwegian music award Spellemannprisen . She won in the categories of Pop Soloist of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. After a tour of Norway and Europe, she had to take a break due to illness. In 2018 Kongshavn released her second album Tranquille Emile , which again received mostly positive reviews. At the Spellemannprisen she received an award for album of the year and as pop artist of the year.

Third album (2020)

On March 13, 2020, she released the single Who's Gonna Love You . Their third album, Let Her Breathe , followed on June 5, 2020 and entered the Norwegian charts at number one. The album again received mostly positive reviews from the critics, Marius Asp von Verdens Gang (VG) awarded five out of six points. He stated that the album was better than its two predecessors. Espen Borge from Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) awarded six out of six points.
