Emmy Sauerbeck
Emmy Sauerbeck (born December 31, 1894 in London ; † 1974 ) was a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher.
Born in London in 1894 as the child of German emigrants, she studied violin and dance in Zurich from 1914 , notably with Rudolf von Laban . She married the painter Rudolf Junghans - the marriage was later divorced - and worked as a rhythm teacher in Bern .
There she founded the "School for Movement" in 1922, a dance school with whose dance group she a. a. performed with great success at the Stadttheater Bern . After Sauerbeck's death in 1974, her student Ursula Blatter-Aeberhard continued the school. It ceased operations at the end of June 2012.
The estate of Emmy Sauerbeck is kept in the German Dance Archive in Cologne .
