Bruno Arno

Bruno Arno , born Bruno Aron (born February 22, 1902 in Hamburg , Germany ; † May 10, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German actor , cabaret artist , choreographer and dancer .

Live and act

Bruno Aron, Siegfried Arno's younger brother , began his theater career at the age of eight in his hometown of Hamburg. There he was seen at the Thalia Theater and the Harburg City Theater. Between 1916 and 1932 Arno played theater continuously, from 1919 he completed a three-year ballet course. In 1922, Arno became ballet master at the theater in Kommandantenstrasse in Berlin. In 1927 Max Reinhardt signed him up and let him create choreographies. In 1929 Arno was appointed artistic director of Haus Vaterland . At the beginning of the following decade, Arno was responsible for the choreographies of the Metropol and Rose Theaters .

Bruno Arno appeared in front of the camera almost at the same time as Siegfried. In 1924 he was responsible for the choreography of Barfüßele ; the following year the Arno brothers stood together in front of the camera for 24 hours in Die Frau . However, Bruno Arno's film career was far less noticeable than that of his older brother. Often he was only allowed to dance. The year 1933 marked a turning point for the Jewish Arno brothers. Siegfried immediately fled Germany from the National Socialists , while Bruno stayed in Berlin until 1935. That year he emigrated to Switzerland . In 1937 Bruno Arno emigrated to Argentina , where he appeared, among other things, at the Casino Theater in Buenos Aires . In 1942 he was employed by Paul Walter Jacobs Freier Deutschen Bühne as a dancer and as an actor.

In 1955 Bruno Arno returned to Germany for the first time and at the beginning of the following year he appeared with his sister-in-law at the Hamburger Kammerspiele in the musical burlesque Meine Niece Susanne . Other stage stops by Arnos were Düsseldorf , Berlin and Cologne . In 1970 Bruno Arno withdrew into private life and was only active as a painter .
