Emmy von Borgstede

Emmy von Borgstede (born August 31, 1864 in Leppin , Fürstenthum district ; † unknown) was a German writer.

Life

As the first daughter of the manor owner August von Borgstede (1829–1886) and his wife Emmy Dannhauser, she was born in Leppin in Pomerania in 1864 . She got lessons from private tutors. Her wish to become a deaconess failed due to fierce resistance from her parents. In Solling and Upper Silesia she worked as an educator; idyllic landscapes reinforced her penchant for poetry, which she had had from early youth. Soon afterwards she published her first short stories and novels in magazines and newspapers, and later she also wrote novels.

From 1891 she lived with her sister Else von Borgstede (* 1866), who was also active in literature, for years in Berlin or in the Berlin suburbs.
