Emsbach Bridge in Niederselters (2008)

The Emsbachbrücke is a road bridge in Niederselters (Taunus) in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Hesse . It was built as a stone arch bridge between 1836 and 1838 . It spans with two arches over the eponymous Emsbach and replaced a dilapidated wooden bridge resting on pillars. When the bridge was built, the neighboring municipalities were obliged by decree to bring stones to the construction site.

The location of the bridge is a ford in the Emsbach, where the development of the village originated and which was crossed by Hessenstraße in the late Middle Ages . With the new construction of the bridge, a suitable connection was to be created between the old village center and the fountain district on the other side of the Emsbach, which was redesigned in the 19th century.

The bridge was built in individual stone blocks, which are clad with slabs of Lahn marble . With its wide driveways, it has clearly classical elements.
