Endorf Hut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Endorfer Hütte was a steel works in the village of Endorferhütte am Waldbach (Röhr) . The village of Endorferhütte belonged to the mountain freedom Endorf . The mining at Endorf was from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century, an important regional industry. In 1852 the Endorfer Hütte was relocated to Recklinghausen . It is unclear when the Endorfer Hütte was founded. In documents from the Meschede Monastery, the then landlord of the Enddorf area, 1465 and 1478, near today's Endorferhütte, farms are listed that are beneven (= next to) or in front of the smeden (= in front of the smiths), furthermore dar de hütten grauv doir gheit (= through the a hut ditch goes). From the 16th century, the hut itself was detectable. From the 16th to the 19th century, the hut was not continuously used for smelting. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the Endorferhütte was operated by the Endorfer union . From 1750 the hut was majority owned by the Endorf trade union .

After the relocation of the Endorfer Hütte to Recklinghausen on the Röhr , a cupola furnace and commercial iron casting were operated.

The iron ore was obtained from mines around Endorferhütte, Endorf, Hagen and Wildewiese . In 1794 two mines on the Hüttenberg , northeast of the hut, were listed as ore suppliers.
