Wildewiese is a small place with around 90 inhabitants in the Sauerland , on the western edge of the Hochsauerlandkreis , incorporated into the city of Sundern (Sauerland) . The place is named for the main ridge of the Homertrück , called Wildewiese-Homert , on which it lies at an altitude of over 500 m.
Wildewiese is best known for its ski area at 540 to 645 m altitude with five lifts and several easy to moderately difficult runs from 100 to 1200 m in length as well as several groomed cross - country trails . From the observation tower of the adjoining 648 m high Schomberg, a clear view of the Münsterland, which is over 50 km away, is possible.
history
In the area around Wildewiese there was already a lot of mining going on in the early modern period, possibly even earlier.
The Wildewiese community was re-established on January 1, 1832, when it was spun off from Schönholthausen .
On January 1, 1975 Wildewiese was incorporated into Sundern (Sauerland).
