Estinghausen (Sundern)

Estinghausen is a village in the area of today's city of Sundern (Sauerland) .

The place was first mentioned in 1285. In the high Middle Ages there were three farms there. These were sold by Gordert von Beringhausen to the Oelinghausen monastery in 1444 . Another courtyard, separated from one of the three courtyards, remained tithing vacant. The place belonged to the parish Enkhausen .

During the 19th and 20th centuries, Estinghausen belonged to the Hüsten district as an independent municipality . In the early years of the Federal Republic of Germany, the place was one of the smallest independent communities. The number of those entitled to vote fluctuated between 14 and 24. Since the municipal reorganization, which came into force on January 1, 1975, Estinghausen is part of the city of Sundern and a suburb of Enkhausen.
