Meinkenbracht is a district of the city of Sundern (Sauerland) in the Hochsauerlandkreis , North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is southeast of Sundern and directly on the 656 m high Homert .

history

The village is mentioned in the 12th century as "Mene bracht ". It was owned by the Herford women's monastery .

Hellefeld is and was the main parish of the surrounding villages. The parish of Hellefeld is also known as the "Old Testament" by the population, as it comprises twelve settlements analogous to the twelve tribes of Israel. In addition to Meinkenbracht, these include: Altenhellefeld , Bainghausen, Frenkhausen, Hellefeld , Herblinghausen, Linnepe , Schnellenhaus, Selschede, Visbeck, Wennighausen and Westenfeld.

In 1939 Meinkenbracht had a total of 139 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1975 Meinkenbracht was incorporated into Sundern (Sauerland).
