La Verrie is a village and a former French commune with 3,954 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It was part of the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon and the canton of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Chambretaud and La Verrie were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Chanverrie and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in La Verrie.
On October 13, 1792, the place was burned down by the troops of the revolutionary general Antoine Marie Bard in the course of the uprising of the Vendée on their way to the battle of La Tremblaye .

The place is about 50 km southeast of Nantes and 80 km from the Atlantic Ocean. There is a junction with the French A 87 motorway a few kilometers away.
The 47th parallel north and the 1st western longitude intersect in the municipality.
