The Homert is 656.1  m above sea level. NN the highest mountain of the Sauerland Lennegebirge in the Hochsauerlandkreis , North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). It is also the highest mountain and namesake of the Homert Nature Park and the highest of the southeastern part of the Homert mountain range (also called Die Homert or Homertrücken ).

Geographical location

The Homert rises in the southwest part of the Hochsauerlandkreis approximately in the center of the local triangle of the Sundern district Meinkenbracht and the Esloh districts Obersalwey in the south-southwest and Niedersalwey in the southeast. The Seilbach rises on the northern flank of the Homert and the Romecke a little to the northwest , both tributaries of the Linnepe . The Wenne tributary Salwey runs through the valley south of the wooded mountain .

Transport links

To the south and west, the state road  519 leads past the Homert, which connects the villages of Niedersalwey via Obersalwey with Meinkenbracht and from which you can reach the summit on forest paths. The Homertweg is named after the mountain , and although it does not lead over it, it also passes, for example, the mountain section of the same name in the Wenne valley to the northeast .
