Allendorf ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a district of the city of Sundern (Sauerland) in the Hochsauerlandkreis . Today it has over 1500 inhabitants. The patroness of the political community is St. Agatha, the patroness of the parish is St. Anthony the Hermit . The parish church of St. Antonius is characteristic of the site . history

Barrows from the Bronze Age are among the earliest traces of settlement . The first reliable documentary mention falls in the year 1296. The village belonged to the County of Arnsberg and was listed in 1368 under the Arnsberg Freedoms . The place was fortified in 1407 and has been a town ever since. In 1424, the Archbishop of Cologne, Dietrich II von Moers , granted the "Stat" the same rights as the other towns and castles in the county of Arnsberg. At this time the mayor and the council are verifiable.

On November 7th, 1629, the citizen Kaspar Kellermann , who was found guilty of witchcraft by the judge Nietenstein and was burned alive at the stake on that day, bequeathed his house and property to the school so that the children could in future the mischief of witchcraft and Belief in sorcerers.

In 1747 about half of the village (37 houses) burned down. At that time there was a drapery guild in the place. Wool spinning was operated in many houses.
