St. Antonius Hermit (Allendorf)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Antonius Einsiedler is a listed church building in Allendorf , a district of the city of Sundern in the Hochsauerlandkreis (North Rhine-Westphalia).
History and architecture
The Bruchstein Hall was built from 1724 to 1726 with a 5/8 end . The walls are structured by pointed arch windows, the late Romanesque west tower is plastered. The eastern sacristy was expanded from 1959 to 1961 with a large, south-facing hall . In the old building, lancet vaults rest on rectangular templates , the apse is set off against wall templates by a strong belt arch . The tower room is vaulted with a ridge, the late Gothic sacrament niche has stood here since 1961.
Furnishing
- The large baroque high altar with a colonnade retable made of wood from 1740–1750 is crowned by the Trinity. On the sides are the sculptures of Saints Anthony and John Nepomuk. The middle picture was renewed.
- In the old building there is a retable with vine columns from the end of the 17th century
- The late Gothic sacrament house is in the tower room.
- The bell from 1467 was cast by Johannes von Dortmund. The bell in the roof turret was cast by Johann Michael Stocky in 1768.
