Norbert Peters (priest)

Norbert Peters (born August 5, 1863 in Sundern-Allendorf , † January 20, 1938 in Paderborn ) was a Catholic priest and university professor .

Life

He was born in Allendorf in 1863 as the oldest of ten children. After graduating from high school in 1883, he studied in Würzburg , Münster and Paderborn . Peters was ordained a priest in 1887. After two years of pastoral care, he went to Bonn and Tübingen for another three years . There he studied biblical studies and philology. In 1892 Peters received his doctorate in theology in Tübingen. He then received a chair for Old Testament exegesis at the Episcopal Philosophical-Theological Academy in Paderborn . Peters published over 30 works. He died in Paderborn in 1938.
