Office Eslohe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eslohe office was created around 1540 as one of the administrative units in the Duchy of Westphalia. It emerged from the division of the "older" office of Fredeburg , in which the courts of Eslohe, Reiste and Schliprüthen had previously formed the so-called Niederamt Fredeburg. In 1802 it came with the duchy to the landgraves of Hesse-Darmstadt. In 1807 the offices were restructured. At that time, the Eslohe office was made up of the Eslohe , Reiste , Schliprüthen and Stockum courts and the Grevenstein , Allendorf and Hagen freedoms .

In 1816 the Duchy of Westphalia and with it the Eslohe office fell to Prussia. As early as 1817 the office was transferred to the newly formed Arnsberg district, in order to re-establish the Eslohe district in 1819 with a few area adjustments . The district seat was moved to Meschede a short time later and a few years later the district was renamed the Meschede district . In 1840 the Eslohe office was re-established within the district with the communities of Cobbenrode , Eslohe, Reiste and Wenholthausen . The office belonged to the district until its dissolution on January 1, 1975. The municipality of Eslohe was the legal successor to the office .
