Enduro World Series

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Enduro World Series (or EWS ) is an international mountain bike championship that was launched by EMBA in mid-2012. The first season of this competition took place in 2013.

format

An Enduro race is designed as the ultimate test for the mountain biker, with the focus of each event being designed to create a great atmosphere, community, competition and experience for the participants, including the best driving experience on the best terrain in the host region.

An enduro race includes both “uphill” and “downhill” (downhill) parts, although the focus is clearly on downhill. The uphill usually has to be done with muscle power d. H. occur, be accomplished in a scheduled time window without timing. The downhill part (“stage”) is then stopped. The results of several “stages” are added up. The driver with the lowest total time is the winner.

Since the uphill is part of the race, enduro bikes are usually much lighter than classic downhill bikes. The routes traveled are mostly natural paths (trails), jumps or other artificial obstacles are rarely present.

history

The championship was launched under the influence of Chris Ball and brings together several existing races:

  • Crankworx (multi-competition and multi-site event with a focus on mountain biking)
  • Enduro Series (France)
  • SuperEnduro (Italy)

The management of the Enduro Mountain Bike Association is made up of the various members of these former racetracks:

  • Chris Ball - former UCI technical delegate,
  • Fred Glo - founder of the Enduro series,
  • Enrico Guala - founder of SuperEnduro,
  • Darren Kinnaird - Director of Crankworx
