Engagée (own notation: engagée ) is an Austrian political and philosophical magazine that since 2015 every six months press law of association for political and philosophical interference with the office in Vienna will be issued.

Editorial team

The initiative to found the magazine came from the political scientist Rahel Sophia Süß since 2012 . The international editorial team, which calls itself process coordination, is based in Vienna, Berlin and London . It consists of Alessio Kolioulis, Felix Maschewski, Anna-Verena Nosthoff, Valerie Scheibenpflug, Johannes Siegmund and Rahel Sophia Süß.

The book Villes Radicales , which deals with the topic of radical democracy in urban areas, was published by the French publisher Eterotopia, Paris, in spring 2019 .

Conception

The name of the magazine refers to the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and his concept of a committed literature . The magazine therefore sees itself as an experimental field for reflections on social interdependencies , and it encourages political and philosophical interference. The aim of the magazine is to shift meanings and generate critical publics in order to facilitate new discussions.

This concept includes working in an open editorial office: All authors who have submitted their contributions as a result of a call on a specific topic then become members of the editorial team.
