Engel is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg .

history

The band was founded by guitarist Niclas Engelin, who previously played with Gardenian and Passenger and has been a permanent member of In Flames since 2010 . Their first demo was voted demo of the year 2005 by the readers of the German “ Rock Hard ” magazine. As a reward, Engel was allowed to open the Rock Hard Festival 2006. The debut album Absolute Design was released on November 2, 2007. In August 2008, bassist Michael Håkansson left the band and was replaced by Steve Drennan. Drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Jimmy Olausson. The second album with the name Threnody was released on July 4, 2010 initially only in Japan, it was produced by Tue Madsen. The band was signed to the rock label Season of Mist in September 2010. In Europe, Threnody was released on November 12, 2010. The third album Blood Of Saints was released on May 18, 2012.

On November 9, 2012, the band announced that Magnus Klavborn would leave the band. The ex-Twelvestep singer Lennart Nilsson, who already helped out Klavborn once due to an illness, represented Magnus on the rest of the tour. On January 4, 2013, the band announced on their Facebook page that Mikael Sehlin (of Degradead ) would be the band's new singer.

The band is currently working on their fourth studio album, Raven Kings .
