Degradead is a Swedish melodic death metal band with metalcore influences and thrash metal roots. It was founded in 2000 under the name Septima and renamed itself to Degradead in 2007.

history

At Septima, David Szücs (guitar), Kenneth Helgesson (drums), Frederik Johansson (vocals / guitar) and Michel Bärzén (bass) recorded several demos between 2000 and 2003. Jesper Bronner followed as the second guitarist, from then on Frederik Johansson concentrated on singing, but was replaced in 2003 by Mikael Sehlin (also with Engel since 2012). The group took part in the Swedish edition of Emergenza and reached the finals there. After a new guitarist for Frederik Johansson, Anders Nyström, joined in 2004, the two demos Rest in Pieces (2005) and Death Row (2006) were recorded and the name changed to Degradead in 2007.

The debut album Till Death Do Us Apart was recorded at In Flames ' studios . Jesper Strömblad , Daniel Svensson and Björn Gelotte hid behind the producer abbreviation HORDE . Dockyard 1 released the album in 2008.

Out of Body Experience was released in 2009, this time recorded in the Abyss Studio . The producer was Jonas Kjellgren (ex- Centinex , ex- Scar Symmetry ), sound engineer Daniel Bergstrand.

Music genre

Degradead plays Melodic Death Metal , which, in contrast to a number of new bands, is not very much oriented towards Metalcore . In reviews, the band is compared with, among others, Dimension Zero , Soilwork , Dark Tranquility and their mentors from In Flames.

successes

Jesper Strömblad , former guitarist for In Flames , said of Degradead's debut album:
