history

Engelsbergs Norberg Järnvägshistoriska förening (ENJ) was founded in 1999.

The aim of the association is to transport tourists with historical rail buses between Ängelsberg and Kärrgruvan and to maintain the Norbergsbana . Operation began with trolleys , but operation with historic rail buses began on August 8, 2003 and has been operated every summer since then.

The line belongs to the Swedish state, ENJ is responsible for the track maintenance between Snyten and Kärrgruvan as well as the access track to the railway depot in Ängelsberg. The association's vehicles have been housed in the Ängelsberg depot since 2007, after Banverket received a grant of five million crowns from EU funds this year , which included the move from Kärrgruvan there. More vehicles are in Kärrgruvan.

The Kärrgruvan engine shed was built in 1857 and is the oldest surviving engine shed in Sweden. In 2008, ENJ built a new platform in Ängelsberg and opened the Engelsbergs Bruk stop. In 2009 the Mimergruvan stop was opened.
