The Engosero ( Russian Энгозеро ) is a lake in Louchi Raion in the north of the Republic of Karelia in northwestern Russia .
The lake has a water surface of 122 km². It lies at an altitude of 71 m. It has an average water depth of 4.5 m and a maximum depth of 8 m. The height of the water level fluctuates around 0.9 m, with the highest water levels occurring in June and the lowest in September. At the end of October and beginning of November the Engosero freezes and is covered with ice until May.
In the central area of the Engosero there is a larger open water area. This is called Bljudze . The rest of the lake area is interspersed with a large number of islands. There are about 144 pieces in total with a total area of 14 km². The largest islands are: Poparski (2.43 km²), Jelmangski (2.02 km²), Oleni (1.6 km²), Domaschni (1.44 km²).
The Engosero has two drains. The Kalga leaves the lake at its eastern end and flows the shortest route to the White Sea . The larger outflow is the Wonga . This drains the Engosero at its southwest end and flows in a southeast direction to the White Sea.
The Engosero is one of the tourist destinations in the north of Karelia .
