The Enid Lake is a reservoir of Yocona River in the northern US state of Mississippi .
Most of it lies in Yalobusha County (smaller parts of the north bank are in Panola and Lafayette Counties ) and is one of four reservoirs built by the US Army Corps of Engineers to regulate the water level in the Yazoo River basin . The dam is located approximately 2.5 km northeast of Enid in neighboring Tallahatchie County .
Completion took place in 1952. The reservoir is part of the Mississippi River Basin Flood Control Project , which was created based on experiences from the 1927 floods.
George Payne Cossar State Park is on the shores of Enid Lake .
